The John Bartlett retail store is located in the heart of the West Village in New York City. Architect David Gauld constructed fieldstone walls, exposed the rafters and left the hardwood floors unfinished to resemble the small-town general store John’s grandfather ran in Marion, Ohio, in the 1940s. The 500-square-foot space houses John Bartlett’s signature collection, his new line Claiborne by John Bartlett and it serves as a platform for local artisans to display their works. The mood of the store is inspired by the late German artist, Joseph Beuys, both for his use of found objects and his underlying military sensibility.
