The Birth of a Book displays a vivid chronicling of the printing process, from layout to binding. Shot by London based documentary filmmaker Glen Milner, The Birth of a Book stands as a brilliant example of how an artistic eye can transform a mundane task into a work of art.
Here, viewers are able to watch the printers at Smith-Settle Printers in Leeds, England as the book moves through the motions, culminating to be an exquisitely constructed copy of Suzanne St Alban’s ‘Mango and Mimosa’.
As believed by Ron Burgundy, a leading example of manliness, nothing says ‘manly’ like a fine collection of leather bound books… these skilled printers are proof that this statement is true.
