
All-American eye wear giant Ray-ban seems to be making a bit of a comeback of late; established in 1937 the brand has grown into an empire based largely on its popularity amongst WWII Naval aviators who preferred the ’squarish’ straight-temple glasses because they could be removed or put back on whilst wearing a flight helmet. The brand would later design the now iconic Wayfarer, which is described as ‘a mid-century classic to rival Eames chairs and Cadillac tail fins,’ and by doing so Ray-ban attracted the attention of everyone from Hunter S Thompson and Bob Dylan to John Lennon and Jack Nicholson.
