The original bad ass, without question, rides a motorcycle, is in a gang, and has an ‘old lady.’ Movies like ‘The Wild Ones’ starring Marlon Brando secured the motorcycle club rebel as both an icon and a fantasy. With the look appealing to uptown girls and gay men and everyone in between, the look is quite obviously fool proof.
Outfit 1:
Marlon Brando here is wearing the uniform: motorcycle boots, cuffed jeans, leather motorcycle jacket, and, since health and safety only became a subject of concern decades later, a hat. The boots have already become rather trendy in recent months—if they ever even went out of style—as have the jackets but I think that if you’re into the look you should really run with it.
Outfit 2:
The wonderful Sons Of Anarchy has offered audiences an updated version of the aforementioned uniform. The Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club Redwood Original (or SAMCRO for short) has traded in the boots for sneakers (some of the members, anyway), the hat for helmets, and jackets for ‘the cut’ covered in their insignia—originally denim but now leather, they cut the sleeves off to make it a vest. The members are, obviously, covered in tattoos (including a full back piece to match the three patches on the back of their vest). With a motorcycle license in hand, how could you go wrong?
