Ladies Touch – Come on, Brogue

So the shoes and style have been around forever. Like most everything else, the shoe has disappeared, come back, been reinvented; some schmuck even decided it was a good idea to stick a platform on them. In the last year or so, brogue has become intensely popular for both women and men—with everyone, even Vans, doing their own rendition of the trend—but I fear a lot of people are still staying away from them.

Outfit 1:
I’d suggest a slimmer slack to accompany brogues. The idea is that they’re a formal shoe but you’re a laid-back guy, so you can get away with wearing formal attire on a Sunday afternoon. Here, he’s wearing brogue boots (which I think are an amazing idea!) which lets you kill two birds with one stone since everyone is wearing boots over their pants right now—but it calls for a slimmer pant leg.

Outfit 2:
This is the actually the lead designer for J. Crew’s foot. I love the purple sock sticking out under slightly-short jeans. He’s wearing them with a blazer, a striped tie, a white shirt, and some really charming glasses (see the outfit here), which is such a classy combination—very J. Crew, one might argue. Basically, the consensus is that denim and brogues go exceptionally well together.
