I’ve got a confession, dear reader. I’ve got a fascination with forearms. It’s nothing perverse, but a man’s forearms is an appealing sight to me. Whether it’s a fresh faced young man with clean arms, or a working man with arms flush from a day’s work, it’s something worth noticing for me. That said, seeing the rolled cuffs of the summer season is always a cause for joy, but it’s always a shame to see the cuffs rolled sloppily, or haphazardly. So before you head out this summer with your sleeves pulled up, make sure you ensure you’re doing the job right.
Outfit 1: Go for that disaffected, easy look like our boy here. Picking a larger shirt gives him some relief from the sun, and the blue button-up is a summer favorite. It’s definitely a youthful choice that’s more easily accomplished with a babyface, helped along by the straw hat which sets off that Huck Finn inspired look. Keeping things free and easy with a bigger shirt, roll the sleeves loosely, folding the sleeves over themselves as you would pant cuffs. The trick is to go for big folds, creating a clunky look.
Outfit 2: For those feeling more confident, a close fitted white dress shirt with sleeves tightly rolled like this can show you off just as well as a muscle shirt. The closely darted shirt shows off this man’s trim figure as well as his impressive arms. A close fit shirt like this needs tight rolling, so pay close attention. Once you’ve got your shirt on, fold the first quarter of the sleeve halfway up your arm. Your cuffs should be facing outwards now. Now, keeping the sleeves close, fold that half upwards again, to the cuff. Tuck the cuff into the fold. You should be left with a neat, tightly folded sleeve. Simple and beautiful.
