The wind is developing an unmistakable chill, the leaves are beginning to turn, it’s increasingly difficult to rouse yourself from bed in the morning – it’s fall boys, and it’s time to talk knits. Fall sweaters have myriad pluses – they’re cozy, functional, charmingly traditional and casually stylish, not to mention attractive as hell. Man sweaters can be lady-kryptonite; more powerful and more overwhelming than puppies and chocolate. I have a girlfriend whose primary joy in life is snuggling up to a man clothed in a big, comfy sweater – I basically have to keep her on an autumn leash in an attempt to curb her sweater enthusiasm. Even if you’re not into females, there’s no denying the allure of a quality knit with a classy print. Let’s examine some options, shall we?
Outfit 1: Indie-ana Jones here is rocking a sweater that looks like it was spun from pure sugar and spice. I can just imagine his cherished grandmother spending endless hours perfecting its stitches by candlelight. Paired with a leather satchel, a well-worn band tee, and your second-skin jeans, chunky retro sweaters are the ultimate in fall warmth. More charismatic than a blazer and less serious than a trench, knits are a great way to marry style with personality. The prints are infinite, the styles diverse, and the most interesting pieces can be scored frugally at your favourite vintage spot.
Outfit 2: For a sleeker autumn look, this intricate, fine-knit belted cardigan is ideal garb. Worn with dark denim and a simple tee, fitted sweaters highlight a solid, upright masculine stature while bringing demure dignity to an everyday, timeless look. A good fall sweater is a sexy, underrated wardrobe investment – just make sure you follow the care instructions with due diligence.
