There are fews things worse than venturing a brisk head-to-toe glance of a potentially attractive man, only to find yourself gaping in horror at a pair of yucky, exposed and pilling tube socks. When people talk about stylishness being a full body affair, they’re really not joking – somewhat ironically, subtleties and nuances are what form the strongest foundations when it comes to personal style. If your intimates drawer contains solely athletic tubes and a pair and a half of threadbare dress socks, you should consider bringing a little foot flash into your life…
Outfit 1: This cool cat definitely knows a thing or two about detailing, and accordingly, his look is a great example of how to breathe life into your wardrobe basics. Rolled cuffs and snazzy socks are low maintenance attention grabbers – all you have to do is slide your feet into some colourful fabric, half-heartedly roll up your pants, and pull on your favourite footwear. Done, son! Keep the rest of your outfit fairly neutral (a la pensive Rasta ici) if you’re sporting a particularly loud pair.
Outfit 2: For a more premeditated look, sync up your sock selection with a major piece such as a jacket or cardigan. Looking overly matchy-matchy is stylistic suicide, but a little harmony never hurts. Slap on some interesting, detailed shoes, and your feet will be the talk of the town.
