Champagne house G.H. Mumm releases this limited edition box set, containing a bottle of their Cordon Rouge champagne, and a champagne sabre for opening it. The act of opening a bottle of champagne with a cavalry sabre is called sabrage, and emerged during the Napoleonic era as a way for gallant young officers to impress women. Bonaparte himself is said to have encouraged the act.
The unique sabre shipped in this box is modelled after the distinctive Cordon Rouge stripe, and features a dulled, weighted blade to ensure you can pop the top off the bottle with less risk. Available now from colette.
