To break the predictability or the monotony of an outfit, sometimes colors won’t suffice. Patterning is a bit tricky, especially when wandering into the realm of florals. You may vaguely recall Leroy Jenkins’ limited run of couch-like floral hoodies from a few years ago and although that might not be quite what I have in mind, they did allow flowers into men’s wardrobes. Check out these outfits to add a little pollen to your wardrobe.
Outfit 1:
This get-up harkens back to the hippies. The brown suede and fringed jacket and the jeans are nice, classic pieces, but the floral interruption catches you off guard. Instead of going all the way to cowboy, he threw the floral in, revealing his other side—is it a sense of humor or a bit of sensitivity? Either way, you want to know more.
Outfit 2:
I love hibiscus prints but wearing them on your sleeve can be a bit much. This guy has done the right thing (though I’d nix the floral tie). It’s important to remember that unless you want to look like a fat tourist in Hawaii, you should keep the shirt fitted. The straw hat and pink kicks are a great addition, keeping in a British picnic theme; the ensemble would look good with roughed-up chucks, too.
