Way back in high school, no matter how cold the winter got, we all tried to wear as little as possible. It might have taken years to figure out how to dress simultaneously for warmth and style but piling on the layers can look really good. In the brief moment between summer and snow when a sweater just isn’t going to cut it and temperatures drop at night, it becomes a challenge to find the right balance. But have no fear, your solution is here.
Outfit 1:
To work with as few layers as possible, the leather jacket is essential. Acting as pretty much a second skin, it keeps you warm without the thickness of other synthetic materials. Here, the flat-fronted jacket creates a long, slender torso and can be paired with warmer base layers—after all, it is cashmere season! Adding a scarf not only warms your neck but also adds a little interest, texture, and color to an otherwise very plain yet simple ensemble.
Outfit 2:
If you want to really layer up, try this neat little trick. During the day, when it’s warmer, keep your outer layer (in this case, a woolen peacoat-like jacket) open while an inner layer keeps you insulated (think blazers, sweaters, hoodies, scarves, whatever). At night when it gets colder, you can do up the jacket and wrap the scarf around you to add some warmth. With everything undone, it’s nonchalant and sexy. Also, take this guy’s lead with the scruff; it keeps your face warmer and adds to the sex appeal.
