Some of the more culturally inclined residents of London, England will already be aware that the Whitechapel Gallery is currently hosting an exhibition by Elizabeth Peyton called ‘Live Forever’. Magical realism comes together in her paintings of the influences in her life, ranging from Liam Gallagher, to Frida Kahlo to Jarvis Cocker. Despite using such visible figures, Peyton’s work shows a remarkable intimacy that transcends the canvas and reaches out to the observer. ‘Live Forever’ will be at the Whitechapel Gallery until the 20th of September 2009.
