J. Crew Spring/Summer 2013 Collection Preview

J.Crew‘s 2013 spring/summer presentation sees Men’s Design Director Frank Muytjens play to the brand’s lengthy heritage by balancing clean, simple American designs with classically rugged elements. The designer, inspired by the color-block paintings of Ellsworth Kelly this time around, created a collection that demonstrated the design ethos in outfits such as a navy tuxedo jacket paired with a selvedge denim work shirt and chambray shorts. Kelly’s inspiration was evident in the worn-in barn jackets and in the color-blocked sweaters and polo shirts, which featured a juxtaposition of vivid hues as well as more subtle monochromatic two-tones.
