Original Moonshine take the spirit – pun not intended – of their corn whiskey’s heritage very seriously. Just how seriously? Well a little while back we got a package in the mail, a book titled, ‘Freedom to Shine: The Story of an American Legend.’ This wasn’t any old book however, because nestled in a secret compartment carved out of its pages was a bottle of crystal clear ‘Original Moonshine’ corn whiskey.
Made from estate-grown corn and quadruple-distilled in Prohibition-era copper stills, this stuff is the real deal, not just some clever branding scheme. After a few tastings (okay, maybe more) you can almost imagine the thrill of backwoods Moonshine makers distilling by lamplight and keeping a close eye out for the law. It’s quickly become one of our favorite ‘books’.
