Tank tops have always been relegated to the realm of women’s wear and, well, underwear. With the muggy weather—either rain or humid heat—plaguing the entire globe this summer, it’s time for the tank top to shake off its bad reputation. Here are two examples of how to incorporate it into your wardrobe.
Outfit 1:
Though the hat is far too much for the hot, hot heat, this outfit is still pretty solid. The combination of slacks (he rolled them up for an added bonus) and a plain white tank is laid back chic. It looks like you worked a long day of 9-to-5 and just ripped your shirt off at punch-out; the added chains make it look intentional. A light scarf could also work well as an accent but you earn ten extra points for a scarf-chain combo.
Outfit 2:
This guy is going the way of Pete Doherty with his look but that can be a good thing (if you’re not scuzzy). The key is that his outfit is super casual—though you might want to buy a smaller size tank—but he accents it with a fedora and dressier shoes. Here’s a rule you can abide by: with any piece of clothing you aren’t certain about, pairing it with some skinny black jeans is probably a safe bet. They’re the modern man’s staple.
