Allen B. Schwartz began his career at Russ Toggs and quickly moved onto the pivotal role of founding and growing the brand, Esprit de Corp. In 1982, Schwartz decided to step out on his own and launch A.B.S. by Allen Schwartz, currently being sold in fine retailers around the world. After nearly a two year break from the menswear arena, Allen is set to debut his spring / summer 2010 men’s sportswear collection. It’s classic with a twist. Allen says “I am my customer. This line has no age. It’s all about attitude and lifestyle.” He feels that men, unlike women, need a reason to buy, which is the very notion he created the men’s collection around. It has the perfect oxford, chambray and poplin shirting, along with classic twill shorts and pants paired with a beautiful unlined double vent single breasted blazer; all core essentials for every guy’s wardrobe. Each garment cut and sewn in the United States is made with fine fabrics sourced from Europe and Japan with each piece paying close attention to detail with contrast plackets and collars, epaulettes, stencil pockets and other fine detailing. This collection could be called west coast preppy in its laid back approach to modern menswear but Allen simply calls it, “Cali cool.” ABS Men launches in Bloomingdales in spring / summer of 2010 as well as a carefully selected list of fine specialty retailers from around the globe.
