The Cooper & Stollbrand factory has been featured previously on the format and rightfully so given it’s the last remaining factory of it’s kind in England. Stuart Meldrum brings us a less hands on approach in this short documentary, with a little upbeat music as we tour of the factory and it’s surroundings.
As we move through the various areas of Cooper and Stollbrand it’s exciting to see the handmade aspects of their Private White V.C. collection being put together by their skilled workers. It’s remarkable to think that the factory dates back to 1917 and is still up and running today. Hopefully it can continue producing as it would be a sad day to see a company with such rich heritage close it’s doors.
Cooper & Strollbrand sculpt and produce all patterns by hand and to this day use the same traditional, tried and tested techniques of the 1960s and 1970s to cut, make and finish all of their garments. Sadly it’s quite rare to come across this type of factory here in England, so if you’re in the area I’m sure visiting this place in person would be an extremely inspiring experience.
