February is around the corner (next week, already!) and it’s time to head south. I’m finally going to get the chance to explore South America and, thanks to the interwebs, what those southern hep cats are wearing is easily accessible. Blazers are a popular choice, apparently—which makes sense because of their glorious climate—and everything they wear is a little over-the-top or unique, which is great. And, of course, they’re rocking color like it’s going out of style.
Outfit 1:
Hailing from Mexico City, this (aging) hipster looks like the most adorable teddy-bear-ice-cream hybrid. From his scarf to his sneakers, it looks as though he’s tie-dyed in unicorns and sprinkles—even his jeans are bright! Pink and green is a great combination; so long as you aren’t wearing a spaghetti-strapped tank top, there’s no reason to be afraid of pink.
Outfit 2:
Here we have some more pink but I’m more concerned with the tiger and the cuffs of his jeans. Challenging silhouettes is a tricky game but to succeed at it is a great accomplishment. As for that t-shirt, who wouldn’t love it? It’s a total statement piece—bright and fun and a tiger’s face—that can be off-set with plainer items we all have kicking around our closets, like the chucks or jacket.
