When an outfit seems to be missing that certain je ne sais quoi, a necklace (or three) usually does the trick. The accessories department at most clothing stores are chock-full of myriad styles and colors. Sure, the ones at certain stores, like Forever 21 or somewhere similar, are decked in flowers and hearts, you can pretty much guarantee there’s one for you somewhere.
Outfit 1:
These necklaces are pretty damn cool. The foundations are pretty simple—white t-shirt, jeans, boots—and the cardigan is the big focus, featuring a wicked print and piping down the placket. The necklaces are all very similar colors to the ones used in the print, in reddish earth tones, with a brighter blue one for accent. Going for chunky beads makes it a bit more ‘bohemian;’ be sure to stay away from anything that resembles Mardi Gras beads…unless that’s the look you’re going for?
Outfit 2:
This look is a bit more precious—I couldn’t help but include it. If your outfit isn’t quite so casual as the aforementioned example, the necklaces should be adjusted accordingly. These more delicate lockets, pendants, etc. are a really nice touch, layered all together. I was going to say stay away from chokers but he kind of makes it work by layering it with the others. I’d even suggest adding more to the mix.
