Sierra Designs finally gets a little love in this climate of heritage outer wear. Having humble west coast beginnings, Sierra Designs launched, with the 60/40 parka in 1968. A technical feat at the time, as the fabric was 60% cotton, to 40% nylon, making it water resistant but still soft and comfortable. Since then, both 60/40 fabric and Sierra Designs, have become synonymous with quality hiking and skiiing gear.
Being on a similar tip, Apolis has teamed up with Sierra on this reissue of the original 60/40 Parka, as part of Apolis’ 2011 “Transit Issue” collection. Things are kept historic, with its classic cut, earthy colour, and leather detailing. This is a jacket, which has proven to never go out of style and from a personal stand, one of my all time favourite parkas. Available online.
