We’ve been following these Only Watch releases as closely as possible. The Only Watch auction held this year in Monaco in September, is an exclusive charity event which sees the globes finest watch makers donate extremely unique timepieces, all in an attempt to raise money for people suffering with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
Although most of the models are one of a kind and are not currently available, Breguet has just unveiled its contribution; a luxurious sweep hand, with a very unusual feature. The watch bears a musical staff engraved around the edge and actually plays “Castle In The Sky” as the alarm. This is where things get complicated. Instead of a digital circuit, the music box in this, is made from a tiny plate with microscopic styluses moving across grooves to create the symphonic sound.
Completed with a narrative image of a child reaching for an adult’s hand, this is one of the most technically elaborate Only Watch pieces we’ve seen yet.
