The fashion industry of New York has organized ‘Fashion’s Night Out‘ for this September 10th 2009, a night of clothing drives, performances, makeovers and shopping to restore consumer and investor confidence in the New York fashion industry. The American economy is on a rocky road to recovery, but that recovery hinges on the American consumer, and no other sector relies as much on the consumer as the fashion industry in New York City, which employs 175,000 New Yorkers. Vogue, NYC & Company, the City of New York and the Council of Fashion Designers of America are inviting people out on the first night of New York Fashion Week 2009 to get a look into an industry that’s often poorly understood and misrepresented. There will be over 700 participating retailers and designers, so there’s something happening for everyone.
