Buzz has been generating for “Howl”, a biopic on the obscenity trials of definitive 1950s beatnik poet Allen Ginsberg, since it’s release at Sundance, and several clips have begun surfacing online. This clip of James Franco as the iconic American poet reading the famous refrain “I’m with you in Rockland” from the epic beat poem “Howl”, is captivatingly stylish, dynamic, and cool.
Beatnik culture has always been a huge influence on fashion and popular culture since Allen Ginsberg and pals Jack Kerouac, and William S Burrough, first emerged in the mid 1950s, and expect the release of “Howl” to see a resurgence of interest in this unique subculture of “angelheaded hipsters” come September.
