This year marks two anniversaries for the Rolling Stones: It’s the band’s 50th birthday, and the 40th anniversary of the release of their seminal double album, Exile on Main St. To mark the occasion, in August Chronicle Books will be releasing The Rolling Stones 1972, a collection of photos taken by the legendary Jim Marshall while the band was putting the finishing touches on Exile in Los Angeles and during their subsequent tour. The candid shots of the band, all dewy and dangerous, are now being exhibited at New York’s Steven Kasher Gallery, and we have a peek at some of these amazing pictures.
