Saint Petersburg by Malin Larsson

Malin Larsson visits Saint Petersburg in this stirring photo set. Renamed Leningrad in 1924, the city became a symbol of the state during the long siege in World War 2. However, with the fall of communism, the city has reverted to its pre-Soviet name, and both halves of the city live an uneasy peace. Symbols of the former Tsarist regime sit alongside monuments to the socialist revolutions, while Russia’s newfound capitalism works to revitalize this centuries old city.
