Choose a coat for the layers you actually wear
Try the coat over your usual knitwear, then sit, reach forward and fasten it. Consider whether the length works with the trousers and shoes you already own. Ask a tailor before assuming shoulders or a tight armhole can be altered economically. Check lining, button attachment and the care label; a heritage name alone is not a durability test.
