When Tenue de Nîmes enlisted the help of William Krol of Tender Co. Denim to create 12 hand-numbered jeans, you knew the result was going to be exclusive, sure. But when that phone call was placed to the British denim professor, you knew we were going to get a truly unique concoction; one that would have “denim headz” on the brink of hysteria.
Their material of choice is a duck canvas fabric, similar to that used in classic work wear garments. Rather than using a standard yarn-dyed fabric, these jeans were cut from piece-dyed cloth (the woven fabric is dyed whole). You’re likely used to seeing denim measured in ounces — which is standard protocol with twill-weaves — but plain-woven canvas duck weight is measured in ‘numbers’ and ‘naughts’. The canvas used for this dozen pairs of jeans is a No4 Duck, which is equivalent to around 15oz.
All of these jeans feature a tapered leg and articulated yoke for a well-fitting seat.
